Russia Invites Facebook to Set Up Shop

Perhaps Facbook’s Appeal is Actually Spreading.

Russian Prime Minister Dimitry Medvedev has reportedly asked Facebook head Mark Zuckerberg to set up shop in Moscow.

Zuckerberg was in Moscow as part of a world tour of programming contests to identify new talent.

However, Medvedev is said to have urged the social media giant’s founder to abandon plans to lure away Russian programmers and instead open a research centre in Moscow.

A Facebook spokesperson has confirmed that the company has no explansion plans in Russia as yet.

Facebook has around 9 million users in Russia, while its Russian equivalent VK has around 34 million
